Nice, was this an attempt to strike the same pose as Astrid when she first 'recruits' you at the abandoned cabin? I wasn't scared at all, I thought Astrid looked adorable up there swining her leg playfully
If this were the case, and I saw her at the con, i'd say: "SIGN ME UP!"
It was a split second photo opportunity haha, Holyrollyempire just spotted me in the hallway. Love how it turned out though! I am a little bit scared of heights. More from the chance of falling than from actual heights themselves... if I know it's safe I'm okay, but ladders are pretty terrifying.
The base is black pants and a black shirt. Then overtop of the shirt I made a vinyl vest-ish thing (with the hood attached) that has the red vinyl bits sewn on, and zips up the side. Sewed more red vinyl bits onto the pants, applied lots and lots of metal split-pins, and then made belt loops and sewed the belts.
The gloves are black leather pre-made gloves, to which I attached the arm guards which are fabric covered plastic canvas with a bajillion split pins in them. All in all it took less time than my Mass Effect costume, but was a fairly intensive cosplay nonetheless! If you have any more questions, let me know!
Cool! I'm thinking of doing this costume for the local anime convention! If you have any tips on how to make it, I would really appreciate it! Btw, how did you make the dagger? I like the one you have, but I'm thinking of doing a Daedric Dagger.
It was a really fun costume!! Basically I'm wearing a longsleeve black shirt and black pants. Then I sewed all the red vinyl details onto the pants, and made a black vinyl "vest" with the hood attached that goes over the shirt, with the red vinyl details sewn onto it. After that, I used a lot of split-pins/"brads" for the rivets. The armguards are fabric-covered plastic canvas, hand-sewn onto black leather gloves.
As for the dagger, it has a cardboard base to make up the different "levels" (make the inside thick and the edge "sharp"), then I smoothed out the edges between the levels with hot glue and then covered with paper mache. I believe I did two layers of paper mache, and for the last one I put some white craft glue into the mix for additional strength and smoothness. Then a bit of light sanding, black primer coat, and then painted it all and wrapped the hilt in fabric.
The daedric one would be awesome, I wanna see when you're done!!!
Sadly, I won't have time to pull the costume together... I'm going as a random vampire instead, but I will still have pictures! Though I will try and do a dark brotherhood cosplay sometime in the future. Maybe even a Dovakhiin one. Thanks anyway
To be honest, because I figured it'd be easier to make than the blade of woe, and cause it looks awesome hahaha. Also, chance to instakill I'm working on the blade of woe for next year though, we'll see how it turns out!
